Number one, I've heard Travis Tritt sing with them before and HE should've been their singer after Ronnie died. I have a personal friend who i won't mention who worked with the band on Street Survivors and Ronnie told him ( after hours )that when the tour was over he would be firing everyone except Billy and Steve to form a band that wasn't about drinking and doing drugs every night. He had had it and wanted to go in a new more positive direction. Travis is an amazing singer and guitarist.

yeah I listened to the alot, but I never really got into maiden. Ozzy even, got a little soft in the 80's after sabbeth and randy rhodes died. like the song shot in the dark even in the video he looks weak. But, I still like Ozzy though

First of all: By far the best quality video footage I have seen of the band from that time period. Thanks for sharing it. Good ol'boys from the new world playing in Europe. A few hundred years ago people left areas like Ulster and the Netherlands and went to a region in America called "The South". They became one culture. who says there glorifying jim crow?. to many southerners, esp of that time era the flag meant pride in homeland, not jim crow or the klan. southerner dig the uniqueness of their land, food, religion football- simply their culture... pride in ones homeland, like ny'ers have in theirs. the flag is a symbol for the indepedent streak this is so virile in the south... its not about race unless of course one makes it that way (ie klan). those outside lookin in should try to grasp this before judging.

On October 20, 1977, a Convair 240 carrying the band between shows crashed outside of Gillsburg, Mississippi. Ronnie was thrown from the mangled wreckage and died of a blunt trauma injury to his head. Bandmates Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray were also killed. Remaining band members survived, although all were seriously injured.

#1. There never was a person named "Lynyrd Skynyrd." The band picked the name as a dig against their former PE teacher. #2. The original band members: Gary Rossington, Bob Burns, Larry Junstrom, Allen Collins, Ronnie VanZant #3. In October of 1977 Skynyrds' plane went down killing Ronnie VanZant as well as Steve and Cassie Gaines and injuring the rest of the band. #4. In 1980 Rossington reformed the band with the survivors but things never went well for them.
