ya I think too many dont understand the leverage stuff. It is like a teder-toder as you make that every type of throw or turn is used with this making it unstopable. In the mount I always go side mount, or use it from the guard. If from the mount your too high and very easy to counter.

Yes..we should have been specific. A mounted position (side of full). Going for a an americana when someone is in your guard is a bad idea because you don't have the leverage like you do with a kimura.

Yes !!! Legs should NOT be static when you have your opponent in closed guard. One advantage that you have over your opponent when he is in your closed guard is that you can use your legs to directly assist your arms (potentailly more than he can use his legs to directly assist his arms).

I don't think hitting in jujitsu is allowed. So all these videos released by these guys probably won't have anything like a punch or kick to get their submissions done. Though in a MMA fight you're allow to do that which makes a ton of submission moves better or worst!

Combat is fluid and unpredictable..so there may be many options available to you in an MMA fight. Having said that, once you have secured both hands on his one arm, you'll have superior leverage to get the tap or submission (usually). There are MANY examples of kimura submissions in MMA, so it is an effective tool for your tool box.

This is a good move for fighters with experiance. an expert can do a lot of damage with this, a novice however places themselves at great risk attempting this for a number of reasons, the most prominant being that if you slip with the kimura lock at the start your back is exposed and you are then faced with the prospect of fending off a rear naked choke which is bloody hard to do even if your not a beginner if your opponent knows how to apply it. train hard if you want to do techniques like this

Just like BOXING is practical only inside a ring, because in Boxing you don't have to worry about someone drawing a knife, or the guys buddy jumping you from behind. If you REALLY want to pic PRACTICAL martial arts for street fighting, its Judo and Krav. Ninjitsu could be potentially effective the only problem is people stopped walking around with swords and shurikens hundreds of years ago lol. Akido can be usefull but Krav encorporates all the Akido you will need for the street

1. No, just no, fights occur at bars usually involve multiple people, as well as on the street, your idea is stereotypical. And Jiu Jitsu is almost useless in most street fights, if you want Martial Arts the are usefull for Street fighting, Try Judo and Krav. One Judo throw, leg sweep will end most fights because your fighting on concrete. Krav will teach you how to defend against multiple assailants, and ones with guns, and knives. Jiu jitsu is only PRACTICAL inside a ring or on a mat

ok. 95& of all real street fights only one guy will take you at a time its some sort of if the street fighter owns you its a form of skill if everybody forms up on you its a form of cowardness so yes this is possible but there are martal arts like akido or hapkido that teach multiple opponent fighting but the problem with most classes are that its not a class its more like a dance class some actualy will teach u good stuf but well i dono most street fights end up 1v1

Go look up Kokopelli's, Machado AND Gracie JJ. And instructors who supposedly trained with the Gracies sure as shit wouldn't give you a bluebelt at 13. Completely agree. I just got my wife into Muay Thai and Brazilian JJ, and her progress is incredible. We both carry firearms as well, but the peice of mind from knowing that she is well protected (as tiny as she is) is excellent. It's a discerning thing to see a 115 lb 5'5 girl preform a double-leg takedown on a 200lb guy and start hunting for submits.

Yep but you should get your daughter into a gracie combatives program. Its basically techniques using jiu jitsu that will give you ultimate self defense and relies on leverage instead of strength!

But judo is primarily a SPORT derived from Martial arts, while BJJ is a self-defense art. yes while low seoinage may do less dmg than a well executed harai goshi or kata-guruma, it is in line of the of the SPORT part is to bring your opponent on the back, not cause dmg. yeah, and falling down stairs hurt ur ankles don't they? likewise a nice foot sweep. both reduce ur capability to fight, leave u on the ground, exposed and vulnerable.

Some of you people obviously have no damn idea what the hell is pro wrestling about! It was not a real fight! It was 100% choreographed, at least it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be a draw, but rikidozan wanted to win so he suddenly atacked kimura with real shoots. Obviously this doesn't make him any better fighter. Also most of you probably doesn't know they were "fighting" in one team for a while before that fight.

I've also done it the way you say you have. Kommisar, Sure, it sometimes works, but especially in competition, when people have very flexible or strong shoulders, or when the person is much bigger than you,it is very difficult to finish because of the lack of leverage.
