people can have their own opinions of Johnny Cash but theres no need to be dissrespectful towards him, he influenced millions of people with hisown music befour even covering this song, i can say that although this song isnt of hisown work he did a good job of covering it, even at his age he was a talented musician, its not asif other people dont make cover songs especially of those with deep meaning, i find it touching that this was his last piece and think many others would agree. RIP Johnny

I always thought that johnny wrote this song... i had heard it first on the downward spiral, but when i heard it by johnny, it just sounded like how he would feel... then i realized when NIN made this song as compared to when johnny covered it lol either way, i love Johnny Cash and NIN

God! This song is amazing! When he first started, just the first chord I thought "this is the kind of melody that hits my soul as an arrow" (corny comparison maybe but it´s true and I feel it with certain things, like Frusciante´s solos and some other things). And you are right! Hadn´t realized when I saw "Hurt" it would be NIN cover. When I saw NIN live and played this song there were thousands of people but an absolute silence invaded the field. Incredibly powerful. Thanks for this!
