so he went through all the techniques in the books and found his core punch, the lead right, and he got that through a combination of wing chun and boxing, then he used the same principle to fill in he leading shin kick. what we must all understand is that we must find our own techniques that fill our desiers. man i wish ppl would stop fighting over JKD itself, ugh ppl need to understand that martial arts is an expression of the human body and that JKD was Bruce's own expression of the human body. His style is becoming like everyone elses and he doesnt want that because that solidify's that style. Yeah... and most which were the fighting styles of the fighters in the early UFC? Boxing, kickboxing, savate, american karate, judo, catch wrestling and brazilian jujitsu... well, none of them were trained to kick the shins or the knees (most basic and distinguished techniques of JKD from other fighting styles). Then the UFC adopted Muay Thai rules about striking: NO SIDE-KICKS TO THE LEGS. Why? because they are dangerous and EASY to land, without the need of sparring with those.

His real original name was Saifon , a girls name, so the evil curse that killed the families boys wouldn't know lee was a boy to spare him, as the family believed. Actually there's Wing Chun in the Jeet Kune Do curriculum and there IS an official curriculum. First start with a structure, and then blending follows. Not just any sort of messy thing you want to do and that will work. Guro Inosanto and JKD are composed of modified Wing Chung as they worked with Francis Fong in that time period and up to today.

if you dont know the difference between wing chun and jkd then you sir are no real martial artist...jkd has no specific form, just like water....wing chun is an style of MA whereas jkd is a concept....you can hybrid jkd with anyting you want, do anything to win the fight, be without limitations and use whatever weapons your body, surroundings, or nature gives you...wing chun is taught and traditional in the way of using repitition of bodily movements whereas jkd is no stlye and no holds barred

People have the tendancy to want the "best" to be pitted against each other in fight to the finish. For what? For fame? Glory? Entertainment? All that contridicts the philosphy of martial arts. If you want to go for a belt, than more power to you. It's the mentaility of people who want to be "proven" that this person can beat this person. You must be looking in the grappling side of mma. True that Greco-Roman is an intergral part of MMA, MMA is not defined by it. MMA is a mastery of all combative parts and techniques of affliated forms of martial arts. Greco-Roman heavily relays on wrestling, while MMA is varied upon the strengths of the student, as is Jeet Kun Do. I also just don't have his book, I listen to the man. It's philosophy is not about how to fight in a competition, but to prepare one's mind and body for combat at any given moment. I do not believe Tommy teaches celeb fees, If you ever get the oppotunity to train with him you would know its worth every penny, I've never felt any confusion or anything lacking from his instruction. If I was lucky enough to live in Glasgow I would be there training every night! It wasn't so long ago that Tommy was doing FREE seminars for people all over the world provided they pay for his travel expenses. Bruce Lee closed his schools only trained his friends and charged $1000s of dollars for classes to celebs. Brandon went to Dan because Dan was world known and a full instructor. you can find the fees on tommy's webpage. The online lesson provided me with loads of valuable information and found it so far better than those instructional vids that usually are available on the market. the semi at his school was for free and lasted 6hrs and he was offering free workshops for a while. i personally met him and can say he's a very generous person i never felt what he charged was expensive compared to the guys where i live. just my 5 cent.

Remember that Ted Wong isn't a young man here (even though he doesn't look his age) and he shows good technique. Remember to snap your front kicks to add power. I have a video I did of my own showing how to apply good snap to a front kick. Ted Wong applies it very very well here, you can certainly learn from his form and technique. Just keep plugging away!

I wish that the UFC wouldve started 20 years earlier so Bruce Lee couldve been whooping ass against all the heavyweights.
